Apologies

Sorry about not putting up recipes for te last couple of days. Wednesdays are always hard as I have college in the evening but my course is over now so I will be able to get back to doing it. Yesterday I had connection problems which seem to be sorted out this morning. So I will be putting a new recipe on later.

New Site Sections

I am currently uploading some new sections to the site. There will now be seperate sections for salads, sandwiches and pasta. Hopefully this will make it easier to find recipes now the sections for meals are getting fuller. I am thinking of adding some more categories and would like some feedback on whether you would find it useful and what sections you would like. At the moment I am considering sections for oriental food and indian food. Any comments?

RECIPE: Winter Vegetable Soup

These ingredients are easy to get hold of this time of year, and just right for the weather we are having at the moment. There is nothing like a bowl of hot soup to come home to after having to be out in the rain and biting cold wind. Toddler groups and vegan foods

Today I took my daughter to a toddler group where they were making chocolate covered apples that they then decorated with various sprinkles, all of which contained numerous E additives as well as eggs. I was then informed that in a couple of weeks time they will be making chocolate covered marzipan sweets for Christmas. Obviously with the information being given to me in advance I will be prepared with vegan alternatives (the recipe I would use is here: http://www.recipesforvegans.co.uk/almondsweets.html) .

I didn't expect them to have vegan food but what surprised me was how unhealthy the food was that they were dealing with. I guess that because we are vegan and also eat very little sugar in our house, healthy food is part of everyday life and I assume (wrongly) that it is the same for everyone.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised as my older daughters school gives them a smartie as a reward for every spelling they get right in their spelling tests (she gets a grape for every correct answer), and the school has a healthy food award so really should be setting a better example to the children. I guess its hardly surprising that the amount of people that are overweight is increasing, as I struggle with my weight and my diet is usually healthy (its just the amount of food that I eat thats the problem!).

RECIPE: Spinach and Avocado Sandwich

Thanks again to my sister for the recipe for today. The sandwich looks delicious and you can find the recipe here: http://www.recipesforvegans.co.uk/spinachandavocadosandwich.html

I have at last managed to sort out one of my cameras to take a decent picture so I will be able to start doing recipes myself again. Maybe its a good time to ask if anyone has any requests for recipes that they would like to see on the site, or any areas that they think are currently lacking, or indeed any ingredients that they want to use but I haven't got a recipe for.
