Recipes for the Site

I am starting to run out of ideas for recipes for the vegans site. I was wondering whether lots of people like having a new recipe every day, or whether I should try to do something different to get people to come back to the site. Any ideas would be gratefully recieved. I did try to do the forum but I am just getting spam on there and no genuine posts so I think I will just abandon that idea.

I thought I would try a new idea for dinner (mainly because I had hardly any veg in the fridge), and I made a pepper and onion dish with rice. My kids both hated it and wouldn't eat it (I must admit it wasn't one of my greatest recipes and certainly wont' go on the website), so I ended up giving them fishless fishcake sandwiches which they both loved. Maybe not the most nutritious meal, but at least they didn't go hungry.

Abbie's Recipes

I have now introduced the new children's recipe section to Recipes for Vegans with the help of my daughter Abbie. We have a few simple recipes up at the moment and will be adding one a week every Monday. She is loving doing the cooking for the website and wants to cook something new every day at the moment. I hope you enjoy the recipes too.

I eventually got round to planting my runner beans in the garden. It took me ages to unwind them from around my kitchen blinds, so I hope they will like it in the garden. I aim to dig up a fair bit of my flower border as it is mostly just grass and weeds and then plant some more vegetables, but am not sure which ones grow best. I was thinking of tomatoes and maybe potatoes and carrots. It is a big ambition though as it has taken me weeks to just get round to putting the beans in, but now I've started hopefully it will inspire me to do more, especially with the weather as lovely as it is at the moment.

Back to School

Well its back to school for my daughter today, and I must say I am enjoying the peace and quiet and being able to get back to the normal routine.

If you want to be able to relax and enjoy the peace yourself the website has a great recipe for vegan hot chocolate:

It is just the thing to treat yourself with after the busy weeks with the kids home.

Of course now she is back at school I am back to making packed lunches again, so I'm going to work with my daughter to try to get some sandwich recipes for the site as I know how hard it can be to give them new things all the time. It may take me a while to get organised with them but I will do my best to get them up soon as they will also be great picnic ideas now the weather is getting better.

Springtime Planting

Its the last day of the Easter holdays and I have just managed to get the garden tidy enough for the girls to have their new sandtable out, they are loving it.

While they are out there I have thought about planting some vegetables in my very small border. I already have some runner beans growing on my kitchen windowsill so I'm going to start with them, as at least I know they will be grown in vegan organic soil!

I don't know much about growing them though so any tips would be really appreciated. Thanks.

New Site Design

I haven't been posting on the blog recently as I have been busy with the new design of the recipes for vegans site. I have now uploaded the first phase, but it is likely to have minor changes continuing for a while, and shortly there will be a great new section on the site as well.

Please let me know your comments as I am interested in what people think about the site so I can make it work best for everyones needs.

If you haven't remember the URL is http://www.recipesforvegans.co.uk.
